e-Genius

The K.S.G. considers itself to be a long-time supporter of innovative engineering. Its social responsibilities, however, are not limited to the scientific and research-based sectors, but equally extend to the area of environmental and ecological sustainability. Climate change, in particular, has proven to be one of the great challenges of the 21st century. In order to meet this challenge while simultaneously maintaining human prosperity and mobility, we require new, forward-thinking and innovative research.

The electric airplane e-Genius, a research project based at the Institute for Aircraft Design (Institut für Flugzeugbau (IFB)) at the University of Stuttgart, successfully combines mobility and environmental innovation. The electric, battery-powered two-seater e-Genius was developed by a scientific team of engineering students under the supervision of Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Voit-Nitschmann, a pioneer in lightweight aircraft construction. It was Voit-Nitschmann's goal to demonstrate the environmentally-friendly and highly efficient possibilities of electric aeronautics.

In a second phase of the project, the team plans to integrate a serially-produced hybrid-system (range extenders) in order to increase the practicality and broader application of the e-Genius concept plane. According to current estimations, passenger planes equipped with 4-6 seats will be market-ready in 5 to 10 years. The future commercialization of e-Genius could revolutionize the private transport sector in a way that is both environmentally and ecologically sustainable.

In oder to attain this goal, the K.S.G. supports the e-Genius project with a donation of € 100.000.
